Ian Mccall is a former UFC featherweight contender who now in retirement is a leading advocate for the use of psilocybin mushrooms and other psychedelics in medical form for athletes. He was key in facilitating a study between the UFC and Johns Hopkins University with an eye toward seeing if the drugs can be helpful for fighters dealing with brain issues, and what hopefully is the very beginning for all major sports organizations to start exploring these alternative treatments for what is one of the most detrimental aspects to these sports, brain injury.
I really enjoyed this conversation and I hope it helps illuminate to those who are unaware or misinformed about the powers of these amazing fungi, outside of their recreational uses.

Alex Asad is a professional tattoo artist in Austin, TX at Atomic Tattoo. He is also the co-founder and graphic design artist with Reverent Jiu Jitsu, an apparel company he co-founded during the pandemic.
We talked a lot about the tattooers journey, his specifically, as well as some pretty funny stories from his 10 years practicing the craft. We also discussed his new brand, Reverent which specializes in jiu jitsu rash guards, shorts and other apparel and as always there were several other turns along the way.

He is sharing his knowledge of training and strategy for others to learn from. We talked about the process and initiative he took to start and continue growing an online presence in the chess community.
Although chess is where we started the conversation, we shifted the conversation to discuss some of the recent UFO sightings shared in the mainstream news, and an interesting dialog centered around a shared experience working at McDonalds and how that experience impacted my life.

Retired UFC veteran Ian Mccall & software developer Steve Seow have partnered together to revolutionize the judging and scoring systems in Mixed Martial Arts with their organization, Scoring Senate.
The core principles of Scoring Senate are simple: real-time, experts-based, and large panel of judges collectively referred to as the Senate. The members of the Senate are verified MMA luminaries called Senators who not only score a bout live in an open-scoring fashion round-by-round, but also add their commentary and analysis.
Each senate commissioned to each bout comprises of no fewer than 7 senators, although the platform can theoretically take hundreds or thousands if need be. Both points and comments are aggregated and shared publicly via Twitter and on the website in real time, and fans can choose to see the aggregated scorecard or individual scorecards of a senator.
I had a great time discussing how this idea came to fruition and gained a great deal of insight from UFC veteran, Ian Mccall on the impacts of the current system on fighters and their careers.

Weston Peick is a retired Supercross racer and current brand ambassador for FLY Racing. After a decorated 10 year professional career, he was seriously injured in a freak accident during a race in Paris, France in November of 2018.
Weston found himself in an unthinkable situation, waking from a coma in a foreign country with multiple facial fractures and the loss of sight in his right eye. Something that closed one chapter but has since opened several more in both racing and as an entrepreneur.
He shared this story as well as others from his career which paint an unconventional path to the top ranks of Supercross. I really enjoyed talking to him and am looking forward to his review of the Aktion specialty coffee we are sending his way.

Mason Fowler is the current undisputed, Submission Underground absolute Champion and a top level BJJ competitor out of the Caio Terra Academy in Northern California.
Formally a professional mixed martial artist, Mason transitioned to focus more on Jiu Jitsu after suffering prolonged concussion symptoms after a striking session.
That transition, refined focus and shift to Caio Terra Academy opened a new set if doors which found Mason quickly earning respect as one of the top Jiu Jitsu competitors in the world.
He is defending his SUG Championship this Sunday (12/20/20) against former Olympic Gold Medalist and Judo Champion Satoshi Ishii, in what will be an exciting match!

Competitive CrossFit athlete and Nutrition Coach, Kristine Andali and I talk about her journey into the CrossFit world and the obstacles she overcame along the way.
After rising through the ranks of the woman's CrossFit ranks and recovering from , she suffered a catastrophic injury during competition when a bar she was pressing fell behind her head tearing both shoulders and resulting in bilateral tears in both. After multiple surgeries and a 3 years she was made her return to the competitive circuit again.

Elias Theodorou is a professional mixed martial artist from Ontario, Canada who was the first winner of the Canadian Ultimate Fighter TV series, and who on February 19, 2020, became the first MMA fighter and professional athlete in history to receive a sanctioned exemption for medical cannabis (TUE) in sport by a governing body via the British Columbia Athletic Commission.
A veteran of the UFC, he now is in the process of starting his own promotion, the first event showcased on a new app called ImagineBC, and one in which he will also be fighting on as the Main Event.
We talked about his road to receiving a TUE (Therapeutic Use Exemption) and why he has fought so hard to bring awareness to this topic.
