On this episode of The Curious Jones Podcast, I sit down with my tattoo artist and the owner of Lost Dog Tattoo, Corey Thompson.
Corey has been tattooing for nearly 20 years and is widely respected for his work across multiple styles—most notably Japanese traditional tattooing, where he’s earned multiple awards for his craft. After spending close to 50 hours in the chair together, it was great to finally have a formal, long-form conversation about the work, the journey, and the person behind the needle.
We dive into my own tattoo journey over the past two years, including the completion of two full sleeves and a chest piece, and we talk about the upcoming full Japanese traditional back piece we’ll be starting in 2026. Corey also shares his story—how he got into tattooing, his apprenticeship, the evolution of his style, what it took to open his own shop, and what it means to mentor the next generation of artists.
Along the way, we get into real talk about the tattoo industry, life lessons learned through the craft, stories from the chair, and the mindset required to sustain a long career in a creative profession.

Daniel Carcillo is a Canadian former professional hockey player of the NHL. He was a 2x Stanley Cup champion with the Chicago Blackhawks and was most notably know as an "enforcer" nicknamed "Car Bomb" who in 2008, led the NHL with 324 penalty minutes, largely mainly due to fighting.
After retirement in 20215, Daniel embarked on a quest to treat the symptoms he was experiencing that were attributed to traumatic brain injury's sustained from his career in the NHL. After 4 years of traditional medications and therapy's, he dramatically changed his prognosis through the use of psilocybin, the active compound found in "magic mushrooms".
He has since become both an advocate and entrepreneur with a quest to bring the relief he has achieved to others suffering with a variety of neurodegenerative conditions.

Lucas Seibert is a professional mixed martial arts fighter, fighting out of Stout Academy in Pittsburgh, PA. In addition to calling Stout PGH home for his training, he has also embraced giving back to the same community and team he is a part of in the role of coaching youth classes there as well. An alumni of the WVU wrestling program, he currently holds a 2-0 professional record, after an undefeated 5-0 amateur career.
He is currently preparing to take his 7-fight win streak into an upcoming bout this October with 247 Fighting Championships, where he is known for bringing excitement to the cage each and every time he enters it. A really great conversation with a dynamic competitor and person, I hope you enjoy it!
